Chief Accountant

Sulaimani Cement Company (SCC) is preparing to bring its new cement plant in Bazian, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, into production. The plant is designed to produce 6,000 tonnes of clinker per day.

We are building a lean, digital finance team on SAP S/4HANA, and we need an experienced accountant to lead the books and the team.

What you will do

• Lead the accounts payable and accounts receivable team, and own the general ledger

• Run the monthly and annual close, and deliver accurate books on time

• Keep the ledger clean: reconciliations, journal entries and fixed assets

• Prepare the financial statements and the local tax and statutory filings

• Set and enforce accounting controls and segregation of duties

• Lead the external audit and close the audit findings

Mandatory

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• Professional certificate: ACCA, CMA, CPA or equivalent

• At least 8 years’ accounting experience, including leading a team and running the month-end close

• Good written and spoken English

An advantage

• Hands-on SAP experience (S/4HANA preferred)

• Cement or heavy-manufacturing experience

• IFRS reporting

• Iraqi and Kurdistan Region tax and statutory reporting

• Kurdish and Arabic
