Accounting Manager

Baghdad | BCI Iraq

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations & Reporting:

•     Manage day-to-day accounting operations including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets.

•     Lead the monthly and annual financial closing processes, meeting closing Calendar deadlines.

•     Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policies.

•     Review account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Inventory & Cost of Goods

•     Oversee inventory accounting for mobile devices and smart technology products, ensuring accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) recognition.

•     Reconcile physical inventory counts against ERP records on a monthly basis; investigate and report variances.

•     Monitor landed cost allocation for imported goods, including freight, customs, and insurance.

Accounts Receivable & Collections

•     Monitor customer accounts and aging reports; follow up on overdue balances across retail and corporate channels.

•     Oversee AR reconciliations for Open Market, and other sales channels.

•     Track and report collection rates; escalate high-risk receivables to the direct manager.

Controls, Compliance & Audit

•     Maintain and enforce internal controls and segregation of duties (SoD) across the finance function.

•     Ensure compliance with Iraqi tax regulations (VAT, income tax, withholding tax) and coordinate with the Tax Department for timely filings.

•     Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes; prepare audit schedules and reconciliations.

•     Develop and improve accounting processes, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management

•     Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.

•     Assist in cash flow forecasts for the treasury manager.

•     Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support pricing, procurement, and business decisions.

Team Leadership

•     Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team; conduct performance appraisals and identify training needs.

Job Resquirements

•     Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

•     Professional certification (CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.

•     Experience in a retail, distribution, or FMCG environment is strongly preferred.

•     Exposure to multi-currency accounting (IQD / USD) and import-related transactions is an advantage.

•     Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
